Old woman crushed by herd of elephants, dies

Pathalgaon. 72 year old woman died in elephant attack. At the time of the incident, she had gone to the forest near the village to defecate. During this time, he came across a group of elephants camping in the forest. On receiving information about the incident, the Forest Department has provided immediate assistance of Rs 25 thousand to the victim’s family. Officials are busy taking action to file a compensation case. The incident took place in Pandaripani Bathanpara, a dependent village of Balajhar Panchayat of Pathalgaon forest range of the district. According to the information, Parvati Bai Pati Bodro (72) had gone to the forest near the village to defecate at around 5 am on Sunday morning.

It is being told that during this time, he encountered a group of 7 elephants which had been camping in the forest for the last one month near the Sirki river of the village. Seeing the group of elephants, the old woman tried to save her life by running away. But the elephant crushed him by wrapping him in trunk and throwing him on the ground. The old woman died on the spot. Forest department officials say that efforts are being made to drive the group of elephants towards Sitapur forest of Surguja. He has appealed to the local residents not to go towards the forest during the presence of elephant herds and not to tamper with the elephants. Due to this the elephants become more aggressive. Due to which there is a high possibility of loss of life and property.
