Officers should visit Gothans, meetings of Gothan committees should be organized: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that in view of the heat in more than 10,000 Gauthans of Chhattisgarh, arrangements for fodder, water and shade should be made for the animals. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has instructed all the collectors of the state and the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat to visit the Gauthans and make arrangements for green fodder, sheds and water there along with Para. He said that Gothan should be approved in dependent villages of Panchayats as per the demand.

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel was addressing the online transfer ceremony of Rs. 4 crore 40 lakh to cattle rearing villagers, women groups and Gauthan committees under Godhan Nyaya Yojana in a virtual program organized at his residence office here today. He said that a meeting of the Gothan committees should be held compulsorily for conducting the economic activities in Gothan. The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the fact that more than half of the Gauthans in the state have become self-supporting. Looking at the summer season, he said that the work of filling water from the canals in the ponds should be done at a fast pace, due to which the availability of water will remain and the water level will increase. Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey also addressed the program.

It is noteworthy that 10 thousand 6 hundred and ninety gothans have been approved in 11 thousand panchayats of the state. Out of which more than 10 thousand gothans have been completed. In these Gauthans, 5 thousand 3 hundred 98 Gauthans have become self-supporting, through which assistance of Rs 50 crore 82 lakh has been given to buy cow dung. From April 1 to April 15, a total of 1.30 lakh quintals of cow dung has been purchased in Gauthans. In lieu of which, out of the amount of Rs. 2.59 crores to be transferred to cow dung vendors, Rs. 1.24 crores has been paid by the Agriculture Department and Rs. 1.67 crores by self-supporting Gothans.

In 49 gothans of the state, units for making paint from cow dung have been approved, out of which 34 units have been established. Paint is being produced in 32 units. 87 thousand 8 hundred 27 liters of paint has been produced from these units and an income of Rs 97.08 lakh has been earned from the sale of 47 thousand 5 hundred 47 liters of paint. Water arrangements have been made in 20.20 lakh quintal para and 7 thousand 8 hundred 59 gothans in 33 districts of the state.

Under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, about Rs 439 crore 73 lakh has been paid to the beneficiaries in the state so far. Till April 15, 2023, 112.34 lakh quintal cow dung has been procured in Gothans in the state. Rs 224 crore 68 lakh has been paid in lieu of cow dung purchased after the transfer of today’s amount from cow dung vendors. On the other hand, an amount of Rs 192.65 crore has been given to Gauthan committees and women self-help groups after the payment of Rs 1.81 crore made today.
