Odisha STF recovered fake O2 pills worth Rs 10 lakh from Muzaffarpur

Bhubaneswar: A team of Special Task Force (DES) of Odisha Police has seized a huge stock of spurious O2 drugs from Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

According to an official press release on Sunday, the team comprising Dharmadev Puhan, Assistant Drugs Controller, Cuttack Circle-I; Tushar Ranjan Panigrahi, Assistant Drugs Controller, Cuttack Circle-II and Haripriya Mallick, Drugs Inspector Cuttack-II Range was formed to investigate into O2 drugs detected in Cuttack recently.

After the team found that the racket extended outside Odisha, it carried out investigation at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and at Muzaffarpur on the instructions of Health and Family Welfare department.

They detected that the main culprit of the spurious O2 tablets was Manish Kumar of Muzaffarpur. They could establish that the accused had acquired huge stock of the drug from illegal sources and supplied those to other firms having no drug licence.

The team with the assistance of Drugs Control officials of Muzaffarpur seized spurious drugs worth around Rs 10 lakh stocked unauthorisedly from the house of Manish Kumar. But they could not arrest him as he was absconding.

The STF team has shared some important information with the Purighat police station in Cuttack about the prime accused to arrest him.
