Odisha: State-Level Coastal Security Seminar 2026 to be held in Bhubaneswar on June 4

Odisha: The Coastal Security Wing of the Odisha Police is organizing the State-Level Coastal Security Seminar 2026 on June 4th at the Police Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. The seminar aims to provide a comprehensive discussion on maritime security issues, challenges, and solutions.

Senior officials and experts from various central and state agencies will participate in the seminar. The theme of the seminar is “Coastal Security Framework: Challenges, Gaps, and the Way Forward,” and various aspects of strengthening coastal security will be discussed.

The seminar will be inaugurated by Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Director General of Police, Odisha Police. Senior officials from the Odisha Police, Indian Coast Guard, Ministry of Home Affairs, Intelligence Bureau (IB), CISF, and other key institutions involved in maritime and coastal security will also be present.

The program will cover topics such as coastal security challenges, prevention of illegal activities, maritime border surveillance, and strengthening coordination among various agencies. Officials will also identify gaps in the existing security framework and consider measures to address them.

The seminar will also discuss how coastal security systems can be made more effective through modern technology, intelligence networks, and joint operations. Experts will emphasize the importance of improved coordination among all agencies in light of the increasing threats to coastal areas.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma will address the concluding session (valedictory session) of the program. A special focus will be placed on further strengthening the state government’s integrated coastal security framework.

According to officials, maritime security is crucial for Odisha due to its long coastline. Consequently, this seminar will play a crucial role in enhancing coordination among various agencies and strengthening strategic preparedness.

The seminar is also expected to develop a common roadmap for a future coastal security strategy, ensuring a more secure and vigilant maritime border.

This event is being considered an important step towards strengthening the coastal security system of Odisha, in which all the major security agencies will come together on a single platform and share their experiences and suggestions.
