Odisha man slaps wife to death for not cooking chicken curry

Dhenkanal: In a shocking incident, a man reportedly slapped his wife to death allegedly for not cooking chicken curry at Munda Sahi of Dhanianali village under Gandia Police station limits of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.

Before leaving his house for some work asking, one Jena Munda reportedly gave Rs 100 to his wife his wife Kuni Munda asking her to get chicken and make curry for the entire family as it was Sunday.

However, Jena had a heated argument with Kuni after returning home late in the evening as she had not cooked chicken curry. Irate over the exchange of words, Jena gave such a strong slap to Kuni that she died on the spot.

On being informed, a team of cops from the Gandia Police station reached the spot and sent Kuni’s body to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for postmortem. They also arrested Jena on charges of killing his wife and forwarded him to the court.

Meanwhile, speaking about Kuni death, her brother Lal Mohan Birua said, “We got a call around 11 PM yesterday and we were told about my sister’s death. I could not come here from Dhenkanal as it was late night. But after reaching home this morning I got to know that there was a fight between the couple for chicken curry and my bother-in-law slapped my sister to death on a fit of anger. Either he just slapped her or did something else can be known only after investigation and postmortem of the body.”

Meanwhile, the death of Kuni following a dispute for not making chicken curry has become a subject of discussion in the area, said sources.

Further probe into the matter by the police with the help of a scientific team is underway, added the sources.
