Odisha: Lady Teacher charred to death in cylinder fire in Boudh District, husband critical
Boudh: A lady teacher was charred to death following a fire mishap that took place from a gas cylinder on Thursday night. Her Sarpanch husband has also turned critical in this incident.
The incident took place in Boudh district of Odisha in Charichhak under Purunakatak Police Station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Bishnupriya, a lady teacher and her husband who has sustained critical injury has been identified as Sribanta Meher, the Sarpanch of Banibhushanpur.
As per reports, Bishnupriya was cooking yesterday when the gas cylinder caught fire. As she screamed for help, hearing her screams, her husband rushed to the kitchen to rescue her but to no avail. Sribanta also sustained burn injury.
As a result, Vishnupriya died on the spot, while Sribanta was first admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Purunakatak. However, as her health condition deteriorated she was then shifted to the District Headquarter hospital in Boudh. However, as her condition did not improve, he has been shifted and admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. His condition is currently said to be critical.
On receiving information, the Purunakatak police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigation of the case is underway.
