Odisha: Dumper skids off road, blocks railway track after falling into 50-foot gorge; Train services affected
Keonjhar: In a tragic incident, a dumper reportedly skidded off the road and blocked the railway track after falling into a 50-foot gorge affecting train services in Keonjhar district of Odisha today.
According to reports, the dumper which has a registration number of OD09 P9981 reportedly skidded off the road and fell into the roadside gorge blocking the railway track near the Gurubeda Chhaka of Joda in the district.
On being informed, a team of local fire services and railway officials rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operation. The intensity of the mishap was so severe that the front portion of the heavy vehicle was completely damaged.
The rescue team rescued the driver, whom they identified as Sanjay Yadav of Jharkhand, by using the gas cutter and rushed him to the Joda Community Health Centre (CHC) in a critical condition for treatment. It is said that both the legs of Yadav have been broken due to the road mishap. However, it is not yet known under what circumstances the dumper skids off the road and fell on the rail line.
Meanwhile, efforts by the team is underway to remove the dumper from the train track and clear the route at the earliest possible time as movement of trains on Banspani-Jaroli route has been affected following the accident.
