Odisha CM Mohan Majhi asks Police to behave well to citizens approaching Thana for justice

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday asked Police to behave well to the complainants coming to the police station.

He asked to file an FIR and discuss the incident with him. The CM instructed this and asked the Police DG to take action if this gets violated in any police station.

Today, during the inauguration of the new buildings of 14 police stations in the state, the Chief Minister narrated how he was harassed during his stint as a MLA.

Giving advice to the Odisha Police, the Chief Minister said, change the way the police behave. Treat those coming to the police station well and provide justice, he said. The CM warned that action will be taken against the police officers who do not listen to the people.

He narrated how the police behaved towards him when he was an MLA. The Chief Minister said, when I was an MLA, the IIC of Keonjhar mistreated me in 2019. He told me to get out.

The police are there to serve the common people. It is not appropriate to use the police power under anyone’s pressure. When a complainant comes to the police station, they should offer tea and water and listen to the complainants with respect.

I am a victim of Police misbehave. Hence, it should not be repeated in future. By doing this the police force will be stronger in the future.

The IIC will be suspended in the police station where the FIR is not registered, said the CM.
