Odisha CM gives appointment letters to 591 appointees, advises them to stay away from corruption

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today gave appointment letters to a total of 591 new appointees and advised them to stay away from corruption.
In his address during the 13th Nijukti Mela at Krishi Shiksha Sadan, OUAT, in Bhubaneswar, the CM said, “No matter what position one is in, he/she should always consider government employment as public service. After getting a government job, one should never neglect work and stay a million miles away from corruption.”
It is worth noting that in today’s Nijukti Mela, 232 Assistant Executive Engineers of Water Resources Department, 197 of Works Department, and 142 of Housing and Urban Development Department, 5 Finance and Accounts Officers and 15 Planning Assistants have been given appointment letters. Today, for the first time, through this recruitment fair, on the basis of GATE SCORE, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has selected Assistant Executive Engineers (AEE) and appointed them in three engineering departments. A total of 591 people have been appointed.
Addressing the newly recruited government employees, the Chief Minister said that from June last year to today, i.e. in 18 months, a total of 37,916 people have been appointed. “We are working to fill another 30,000 posts in the next six months. Our government had promised to fill all the 1.5 lakh vacant posts in five years and to fill 65,000 government posts in two years. So, all of you should stay above corruption and be firmly committed to the successful implementation of all the public welfare works of the government so that the society and the state can develop,” he urged.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various irrigation works in the state today. He launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Adibandha Tiyari Yojana (MATY)’ with a sanction of Rs 2,738 crore, aiming to construct 3,000 new check dams and rehabilitate 2,000 old ones, providing irrigation facilities to 48,000 hectares of land.
The other projects inaugurated and foundation laid include 101 check dams in 22 districts, benefiting 2,416 hectares of land, 201 check dams in 15 districts, benefiting 5,342 hectares of land, two large-scale lift irrigation projects in Mayurbhanj and Gajapati districts, benefiting 4,000 hectares of land, underground irrigation system for 10,000 hectares of land in Balasore district, new small irrigation project in Angul district, benefiting 33 crore, six large-scale irrigation projects in Sambalpur district, worth Rs 355 crore, and 28,302 irrigation projects in 20 districts, worth Rs 1,515 crore.
