Odisha Cabinet approves Women Workers Hostel and Brutang Reservoir Saddle Spillway Project

Odisha: Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday evening approved several important projects for the development and strengthening of infrastructure of the state. These include construction of Women Workers Hostel in Khordha district and construction of saddle spillway for Brutang Reservoir in Nayagarh district. Efforts are being made to promote social and economic development in the state through these projects.

The Cabinet approved the proposal of the Industries Department for the construction of Women Workers Hostel in Kalibeti Industrial Area of ​​Khordha district. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 210.36 crore. It will be implemented by the Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) and funded under the SASCI (Social and Community Infrastructure) scheme. This hostel is targeted to be completed within 24 months.

Odisha government said that this hostel will have accommodation facilities for about 4,000 women workers. This will not be limited to just residential facilities, but integrated social and community infrastructure will be developed around the hostels, which will support industrial growth and ensure better quality of life for the women employees. The objective of this initiative is to increase the participation of women employees in industries and provide safe and convenient accommodation for them.

Besides this, the Cabinet also approved the proposal for construction of saddle spillway for Brutang Reservoir near Manjari village in Nayagarh district. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 194.07 crore and it is targeted to be completed in 30 months by the Water Resources Department. Construction of saddle spillway will increase the water conservation capacity of the reservoir and help in flood control and irrigation projects.

This initiative will strengthen the water management and water supply system in the area. The saddle spillway construction is expected to provide long-term benefits to local farmers and the rural community. Apart from this, this project is considered important to improve the infrastructure of Odisha and ensure sustainable use of natural resources.

According to the Government of Odisha, the implementation of both these projects will significantly contribute to employment generation, social inclusion and infrastructure development in the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the government aims not only to develop industrial and water resources but also to improve the living standards of weaker sections of the society, especially women.

The Chief Minister said that projects like Women Workers Hostel and Brutang Reservoir Saddle Spillway will improve both the economic and social condition of the state. These projects will not only provide direct benefits to the local population but will also accelerate the overall growth rate of the state.

Overall, these decisions of the Odisha Cabinet are important steps towards overall development, women empowerment and strengthening water resources management in the state. After the completion of these projects, it will not only ensure better housing facilities for women employees in industries, but will also see lasting improvements in water management and rural development.
