Odisha: In a significant political decision, Odisha’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revoked the suspension of former Lok Sabha MP Aira Kharbela Swain. In a statement, he said the party has decided to lift the suspension imposed on senior leader Aira Kharbela Swain.

Aira Kharbela Swain was a three-time MP from Odisha’s Balasore Lok Sabha constituency. He won elections on a BJP ticket in 1998, 1999, and 2004, and during this time, he established a strong position within the party organization.

However, in 2009, he left the BJP and subsequently formed a new political party in the state. After a few years away, Swain returned to the BJP in 2019 and contested the Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat, but was defeated.
