Odisha: Aid for poor students

Odisha : The guests said that the ‘Shiksha Samithi’ under the aegis of Sri Chowdeshwari Devanga Sangam at Brahmapura has been supporting poor Devanga students for a long time and encouraging them for higher education by providing financial and other assistance. The 29th anniversary of the Shiksha Samithi was celebrated on Sunday. The programme was held at Sri Siddeshwara Swamy Kalyana Mandapam at Martapeta and was presided over by Shiksha Samithi chairman Enem Nandaraju. Educationist Basanta Kumar Sahu attended as the chief guest. Besides, another Shiksha Samithi chairman, Kolla Chandraiah, vice-chairman G. Harihara Rao, secretary Kondaka Jagannatha Rao, treasurer Erra Narayana, Sri Chowdeshwari Devanga Sangam chairman Jinugu Devadas, advisor K. Nandeshu Senapathi, Kadi Bhimraju and others participated and delivered speeches. Sri Siddeshwaraswamy Kalyan Mandapam president Tuthika Gopi, secretary Battula Rajeswara Rao, Devanga Kalyan Samiti president Nalla Rama Rao, vice president Jinaga Kanta Rao, ward councillor Tuthika Kishore Patar and others attended the functions as guests and delivered speeches. At the event, 36 students studying in classes 8 to 10 were given textbooks and notebooks by chief guest Basant Sahu, Manjusa Kumari Sahu and other guests. About 40 students studying in Plus Two and higher education were given college fees and books. Goru Trisha, who scored good marks in class 10, was given a scholarship. Many community representatives, students and their family members were present on the occasion.
