Odisha: At least 55 tigers have died in Odisha in the last 10 years, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia told the state Assembly on Tuesday. “In the last ten years, 48 ​​leopards and 7 Royal Bengal tigers have died in the state,” the minister said while replying to a question in the House. The minister said 25 tigers died due to poaching while four died due to electrocution. Five tigers died in accidents and six died due to drowning, he said. In August, Singhkhuntia had also told the House that over 2850 wild animals were poached in Odisha in the last 10 years. “In the last 10 years, 2869 wild animals including tigers, bears, deer and elephants were poached in Odisha and 6960 poachers were arrested,” Singhkhuntia said in the Assembly.
