Odisha: 18-year-old dies after receiving ‘wrong injection’ at Dhenkanal DHH

Odisha: An 18-year-old boy, who was injured in a strange accident yesterday at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Dhenkanal, Odisha, died today. It is being reported that he was given the wrong injection. The deceased has been identified as Alok Samal of Malpura village, Marthapur Panchayat, Bhuban police station, Dhenkanal.
According to reports, Samal suffered a lower abdominal injury after falling yesterday evening. He was immediately rushed to Dhenkanal DHH.
Although the injured boy was discharged from DHH after initial treatment, reports indicate that his condition worsened and he was readmitted to DHH.
This morning, a nurse at DHH administered an injection to Samal, after which his condition worsened. Despite repeated requests from Samal’s family, DHH officials did not take immediate action to refer him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The 18-year-old eventually died at a DHH. Meanwhile, his family blamed the wrong injection and medical negligence for his death.
