Noida Authority alert on waterlogging, starts 24×7 control room

Noida: In response to complaints of waterlogging in the city during the rains, the Noida Authority has immediately launched a relief and rescue operation. Taking cognizance of the concerns of citizens, the authority launched a large-scale campaign to improve the drainage system. Teams from all 10 work circles in the city were deployed in their respective areas and immediate action was taken in the waterlogged areas.

According to a press note issued by the Noida Authority CEO’s office, waterlogging was reported at several locations in the city after the rains. Following this, the authority’s teams arrived on the scene and began drainage work. In the waterlogged areas, drains were cleaned and water was removed using JCBs, Hiva, Poclains, Super Sucker machines, and other modern equipment.

Authority officials stated that special arrangements were made in all the underpasses in the city. Generators were installed to pump out water from the underpasses, ensuring smooth operation of all underpasses.

The Water Department identified 28 low-lying areas in the city. Diesel pumps were installed in these areas to drain the water, preventing the waterlogging problem from worsening. Furthermore, complaints of waterlogging in basements were also reported at some locations, which teams immediately addressed upon arrival.

According to the Noida Authority, cleaning work is underway on 104 major drains to maintain the city’s drainage system. The total length of these drains is approximately 320 kilometers. Forty-two JCB machines, two Poclain machines, and 102 tractor-trolleys have been deployed for the cleaning campaign. Five super-sucker machines are being used to de-silt covered drains. According to officials, approximately 80 percent of this work has been completed.

To ensure that citizens do not face any difficulties during the rainy season, the Noida Authority has also launched a helpline system. Citizens can contact the call center number 0120-2423795 to register complaints regarding waterlogging. Upon receiving a complaint, a Quick Response Team (QRT), which is active 24 hours a day, seven days a week, will reach the spot and resolve the issue.

Authority officials stated that special attention is being paid to maintaining cleanliness in the city during the rainy season. Garbage disposal is being prioritized throughout the city. Under the door-to-door garbage collection campaign, approximately 900 tons of domestic waste and approximately 400 tons of construction and demolition (C&D) waste are being disposed of daily.

The Noida Authority has appealed to citizens to immediately report waterlogging, drainage-related problems, or any other issues to the helpline number so that timely action can be taken. Officials say that continuous monitoring is being done to ensure smooth functioning of the city’s drainage system during the rainy season, and resources will be deployed as needed.
