Hyderabad: A Major fire accident was averted after the local residents evacuated people from an apartment complex in Lad Bazar, Charminar where the fire broke out in one of the flats. The fire broke out on the balcony of apartment 303 of Mubarak Complex. Though materials in the apartment including laptops and other electronic goods worth Rs 6 lakh were gutted in the fire, casualties could be avoided due to timely and efficient intervention of the local residents.

The firefighters did an excellent job otherwise the fire might have spread in other parts of the building causing casualties, Sahil said.
The firefighters said that they found it very difficult to use the water pressure pipes through the narrow lanes and to get access to the building. “We increased the water pressure and put out the fire on time, otherwise dozens of shops and apartments in the premises would have been gutted, the officer said. The house owner Mohammed Yousuf along with his family members had gone to attend a relative’s marriage in Falaknuma, Hussainialam police said.
