New Maruti Swift To Launch On May 9, What Are The Expected Specs And Features

Maruti Suzuki has started the official bookings for the new-generation of Swift. The popular hatchback is scheduled to launch in India on May 9. While some details about the hatchback are known to us, some of the details have been revealed through various leaks. The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will be offering 25.72kmpl mileage and six airbags as standard across variants.


This is the fourth generation of the popular hatchback and there is a new Z series engine on offer. The engine will offer more fuel efficiency but will generate less power. The new model is expected to offer a claimed figure of 25.72kpl. Well, the hatchback will offer an improved mileage of 3kmpl as compared to the outgoing model. When it comes to transmission, the new Swift is likely to get an AMT automatic or torque convertor. Even though Maruti has not revealed about the same, it is expected to be AMT automatic (which is offered in Baleno).


The engine that will be offered in the new Swift is a 1.2-litre Z12E engine. It makes 82hp of peak power and 112Nm of maximum torque. If compared with the K Series engine this new engine offer 8hp less power and 1Nm less torque. There will also be a CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
The new model is expected to offer new LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, wheels, LED taillights, alloy wheels, a shark-fin antenna, a new door handle design and much more.


Inside the cabin, we get a 9-inch infotainment system, a bigger full-colour MID and a new climate control interface. New features like rear AC vents, USB-C charging ports and Arkamys sound system are also on the list.


If compared to older gen model, the new gen Swift is expected to be 15 mm longer, 40 mm less wide and 30 mm taller. Meanwhile, the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,450 mm.
Upon launch, the new gen Swift will take on the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Triber, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Celerio, Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.
