New guidelines for 2G and dual SIM card users to be released soon
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is reportedly planning to release new guidelines that will benefit 2G and dual SIM card users. As per reports, the new guidelines will impact millions of users. The new guidelines will help users to minimize their loss of money due to unwanted services bundled in recharge plans.
Reports indicated that TRAI aims to provide affordable and efficient Voice + SMS packs to 2G and dual SIM users with the new regulations. India currently has around 300 million 2G users who pay for unnecessary services. In order to bring more clarity and better service options to them TRAI has taken this step.
New regulations for 2G and Dual SIM Users?
The 2G users in India currently have to buy both the Voice + SMS packs while recharging even though sometimes they don’t need both services. For example, several users rely on one SIM for data and the other strictly for calls and SMS, which means they pay for the unwanted service as the pack bundles both services.
With the TRAI’s upcoming new guidelines, customers will have access to affordable and efficient Voice + SMS packs. This will let users choose as per their need while buying recharge packs.
Currently, telecom companies bundle data packs, which impacts users financially, especially those who only need voice and messaging services.
Back in July, TRAI had released a consultation paper discussing these concerns and how they could be addressed. The new guidelines are expected to bring relief to customers by offering more suitable options.
