Nephew committed rape in aunt’s village, arrested
Raigarh. Giving priority to women and girl child safety, Gharghoda police took immediate action and arrested the accused of rape and presented him in the court. Acting on the report of the juvenile girl, the police arrested a youth named Chandu Rathia from village Dhudungjor of Thana Pathalgaon area. A case has been registered against the accused under POCSO Act and other sections.
On 08 January 2025, the victim juvenile girl along with her family reached Gharghoda police station and lodged a complaint. She told that she got acquainted with Chandu Rathia, who often came to his aunt’s house. On 18 March 2024, the accused took her to the village fair. On returning home at night, when there was no one in the house, he made physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage. After this, the accused stopped talking and refused to marry. On the complaint of the girl, crime number 06/2025, section 376 (2) (d) IPC was registered in Gharghoda police station. And a case was registered under 4,6 POCSO Act. The police team immediately left for Pathalgaon under the leadership of Police Station Incharge Inspector Ramkinkar Yadav.
The team raided the house of accused Chandrabhushan Rathia alias Chandu Rathia (age 19 years), resident of village Dhudungjor, Police Station Pathalgaon, District Jashpur, and took him into custody and brought him to the police station for questioning. Today the accused has been produced in the court and sent to judicial custody. Inspector Ramkinkar Yadav, Sub Inspector Kusum Kaivart (Police Station Kotrarod), Head Constable Parasmani Behera, Constable Dinesh Sidar and Prahlad Bhagat made important contributions in this action.
Gharghoda Police has once again proved its commitment towards women and girl child safety. Through quick action and teamwork, the accused was arrested on time and its responsibility towards justice was fulfilled.
