NDRF rescues youth who jumped into canal by cutting vein in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad (IANS) | The NDRF team, which was searching for a drowned student in Muradnagar Ganga Nahar of Ghaziabad, saved the life of another youth. This young man had jumped into the canal by cutting his hand vein, then the NDRF jawans doing the search operation caught sight of him and immediately reached the spot and saved him safely. Nothing has been known about the drowned student there. 17-year-old Madhav alias Yash, a resident of Kasba Modinagar, was taking bath on Muradnagar Ganga Nahar with four friends on Wednesday. During this, he drowned after going into deep water. On the information of the police-administration, the NDRF team started the operation in search of the student in Muradnagar Gangnahar at 8.15 am on Thursday. The team searched about 12 kilometers in the canal, but nothing was found of the student.

The NDRF was engaged in its operation, during which it caught sight of a young man jumping into the canal with the intention of committing suicide. NDRF constables Lokesh, Yogesh Chandan Pandey, Pradeep Shukla and Shishupal, led by sub-inspectors Lalit Snehi and Ravindra Singh, immediately reached the spot. He safely rescued the young man drowning in the canal and handed him over to the police.

According to the information received, the name of the 25-year-old youth is Goswami, who is a resident of Maujpur Delhi and after a domestic dispute, he had jumped into the canal with the intention of committing suicide by cutting the vein of his hand. Had the NDRF team delayed for a minute or two, this young man could have drowned. The NDRF team gave first aid to the injured youth on the spot and informed the relatives. The relatives from Delhi came to Muradnagar police station and took Goswami along.
