National Milk Day: Minister listens to farmers’ grievances

Tamil Nadu: On the occasion of National Milk Day today (November 26), Minister Mano Thangaraj conducted an inspection and heard farmers’ complaints.
The birthday of Verghese Kurien, considered the Father of the White Revolution, is celebrated as National Milk Day.
Tamil Nadu Dairy Minister Mano Thangaraj personally inspected the issuance of milk authenticity certificates from the Aavin Administration in the Bukkampatti area of Salem district.
He inquired from the staff about their milk handling skills, handling methods, and milk production.
He then asked the farmers who brought the milk if they had any complaints and whether they were being paid for their milk on the scheduled day.
The farmers shared their complaints with the Minister, and the Minister assured that immediate action would be taken.
Later, Minister Mano Thangaraj inaugurated a veterinary camp. Medical tests were conducted at the camp to determine whether the cows were pregnant for the past 30 days.
The cows that were not calving were diagnosed and treated so that they could conceive again.
The cause of the cows’ inability to conceive was identified and treated.
Salem MP T.M. Selvaganapathy, Mettur MLA Sathasivam, Dairy Commissioner John Louis, District Revenue Officer Ra. Ravikumar, Mecheri East Union DMK Secretary Srinivas Perumal, West Secretary Kasi Viswanathan, Perur Secretary Saravanan were present at the event.
