Narendra Modi Invokes Somnath’s Legacy For India’s Path To Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that previous governments tried to erase the history of the famous Somnath Temple. He criticized the Congress rulers for ignoring the importance of the Somnath Temple with a slave mentality. He accused them of obstructing the reconstruction efforts of Sardar Patel after independence.
The Prime Minister said that the then rulers had objected to India’s first President Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad’s decision to visit this shrine. Prime Minister Modi, on a three-day visit to Gujarat, visited the Somnath temple on Sunday and offered prayers. He recalled that foreign invaders had made many raids on Somnath. He said that the Somnath temple is a testament to courage, sacrifices and determination.
The Prime Minister said that even after a thousand years since the Ghazni Muhammad army attacked and destroyed Somnath, the flag is still flying over the temple, which shows the spirit of India to the world. He said that Somnath Swabhiman Parv is a reflection of India’s faith. He said that participating in Swabhiman Parv today is a great memory. He said that he will never forget this memory in this life.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi recently wrote a special article on the occasion of the thousandth anniversary of the attack on the Somnath temple. He mentioned in his article that Ghazni Muhammad’s brutal and violent invasion of the shrine was in January 1026, and that after the restoration of the temple, devotees were able to visit the temple again on May 11, 1951, thanks to the efforts of the then President Dr. Rajendra Prasad. He recalled that every time there was an attack attempt, people prevented the temple from being attacked, and some even sacrificed their lives.
