Narco test done for the first time in Raipur AIIMS

raipur news. Police and investigation agencies in Chhattisgarh will no longer have to go to Hyderabad or other states for narco test of the accused in any case. Narco analysis test has started in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Efforts were being made for this by the police department for a long time. The first narco test was done in AIIMS on 27 July. Police Department

Professor (Dr.) Krishnadutt Chawali, Head of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department of AIIMS, said that narcosis is used to interrogate a suspect, in which a drug is injected into the person’s body. Narco analysis was first used in the country in the year 2002 during the Godhra incident investigation.

Narco analysis is based on the principle that a person uses his imagination or intention to lie, which requires full consciousness. The ability to lie is eliminated by putting him in a semi-conscious (trance) state. Under the influence of certain drugs (truth serum), a person becomes relaxed and talkative. Thus, the chances of speaking the truth increase due to lack of inhibition. Other methods of uncovering the truth in crime investigation include hypnosis, polygraphy and brain mapping.

AIIMS Director (Lieutenant General, Retired) Dr Ashok Jindal said, Narco test has started in AIIMS. It has been made possible through an MoU signed between AIIMS and Forensic Science Laboratory in October-2023. The departments of Anesthesia, General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology have successfully carried out the entire process.
