Nalgonda: Officials on alert after rise in viral fever cases

Hyderabad: The outbreak of viral fever in various mandals of Nalgonda district has become a matter of concern. Dengue cases are also on the rise. The spurt in fever cases has alerted medical and health officials. The number of patients being treated at the district headquarters hospital also saw a significant rise in the last 10 days, especially after waterlogging in villages and towns following monsoon rains. Private hospitals are also flooded with fever cases. In the last five months, 38 dengue cases have been reported in the district and most of them are from rural areas of Nalgonda division. Patients with common complaints like cold, flu and bacterial infections are coming down with high fever. Such diseases are also being reported in children. District medical and health officials have initiated special measures to deal with the situation. The outbreak of viral fever and infections in the city and its surrounding areas is being attributed to mosquito menace. Officials have clarified that all government hospitals have adequate stock of medicines. The hospitals are fully equipped to provide the best possible medical facilities to the patients. He said that fogging campaign is also being run on a large scale in the city and gram panchayats.
