Nagaland: ICAR team meets State Minister Bhagirath

Nagaland: Dr. Girish Patil S., Director of the ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, along with Dr. Phool Kumari, Head of KVK-Dimapur, and Dr. Harendra Verma, Scientist at the ICAR Nagaland Centre, met with Bhagirath Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, in Dimapur.
An ICAR press release stated that during the meeting, the ICAR team presented the various initiatives and activities of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to promote agriculture and animal husbandry in the northeastern region of India.
Special initiatives aimed at enhancing farmers’ livelihoods, increasing animal production, and strengthening extension services were discussed.
The Minister spoke in detail about the challenges faced by farmers in Nagaland and emphasized the immense potential of natural farming methods in the state.
He appreciated the efforts of ICAR institutes in the region and stressed the need for continued scientific support and farmer-centric approaches to ensure sustainable development of agriculture.
