Mystery surrounds death of medical representative in rented accommodation in Rourkela

Odisha: Police recovered the body of medical representative Bhagirathi Sahu from a rented house in Rourkela’s Civil Township on Saturday, sparking widespread discussion in the locality.

Initial reports revealed that Bhagirathi lay inside the house in a suspicious condition. Blood was seen coming from his stomach, raising doubts about whether the death resulted from murder or an accident. Police detained two of his roommates for questioning and seized a sharp weapon from the scene.

Sources confirmed that three tenants lived in the house. Investigators are still verifying whether anyone else was present during the incident. Police began questioning individuals connected to the house as part of the ongoing probe.

A team from Raghunathpali Police Station reached the spot, secured the area, and sent the body for a postmortem to determine the exact cause of death. Officers collected evidence from the house and restricted access to the locality for several hours.

Family members of the deceased are travelling from Cuttack to Rourkela. Authorities expect more clarity once the postmortem report is completed and relatives arrive.

Police officials stated that they are examining all possible angles, including foul play and accidental death. The investigation continues as officers piece together the circumstances surrounding Bhagirathi’s death
