Murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh: Protest demanding death penalty for the accused
Maharashtra: Santosh Deshmukh, Sarpanch of Masjog village in Beed district, was murdered on 9 December. It has been about 26 days since this murder. During this entire period, suspected accused Valmik Karad, Sudarshan Ghule, Sudhir Sangale and two others have been arrested. The search for another accused is on. Protests are also being held in various parts of the state against this incident. Meanwhile, a march started from Lal Mahal in Pune to Pune District Collector’s Office today and Santosh Deshmukh’s family members joined this march.
Also, Santosh Deshmukh’s family also paid tribute to the statue of Jijau at Lal Mahal. Manoj Jarange Patil, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, MP Bajrang Sonawane, representatives of various organizations as well as a large number of citizens from different parts of Pune district joined the march. Accused Valmik Karad should be given death penalty, Chief Minister Dhananjay Munde should resign, police officers who ignored their duties should be made co-accused, MPs and citizens from Bihar (Beed) participated in the agitation carrying placards. During this, strong slogans are being raised against Nationalist Congress Party leader Minister Dhananjay Munde.
