Murder by axe, accused youth arrested
Durg: In the Dhamdha police station area of the district, two youths started fighting over an old rivalry on Sunday evening. The fight escalated so much that one of them attacked the other with an axe. He attacked the youth repeatedly. The other youth fell down on the spot after being hit by the axe at several places and died on the spot. As soon as the information was received, Dhamdha Police took the accused into custody. Police is investigating the matter.
According to Dhamdha Police, the incident took place around 6:30 pm on Sunday evening. In village Mudpar of Dhamdha block, Devendra Sahu (33 years) and accused Saurabh Sahu (29 years) started fighting among themselves over an old rivalry. It is being told that there was an old dispute between them and they had fought earlier also.
Eyewitnesses told the police that when Devendra saw Saurabh, he started abusing him. This made Saurabh angry and he also started abusing. The fight between the two escalated so much that Saurabh brought an axe from home and attacked Devendra with a deadly weapon. He attacked Devendra with the axe several times, due to which he fell down bleeding and died on the spot. After the incident, tension increased among the family members of the deceased Devendra Sahu. Devendra’s brother Tileshwar informed the Dhamdha police. The police reached the spot as soon as they got the information. The police explained to everyone. The police immediately formed a team and sent it to arrest the accused. The police conducted a raid and took the accused Saurabh Sahu into custody. After the post-mortem on Monday, the body was handed over to the family.
