Mumbai: The Magathane-Goregaon DP Road is soon going to become a reality.

Maharashtra: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has confirmed that a lottery for 120 residential units for Project Affected Persons (PAPs) in Singh Estate, Kandivali (East), will be held on Monday. The remaining 38 structures will be shifted in the third phase, making way for the Magathane-Goregaon 120-foot Development Plan (DP) road.

Work on the remaining 38 structures will be carried out in the third phase.

The BMC had earlier rejected the Chief Minister’s directive to realign the proposed 120-foot DP road from Magathane to Goregaon to save the slums in Singh Estate, stating that it was not technically feasible. The BMC chief had given this order while hearing a petition filed by the Lokhandwala Residents Association, which was referred by the Bombay High Court, and stated that the proposed plan had already been implemented and most of the road had already been constructed.

After failing to take any action for six months following its own order, the BMC began demolishing the illegal residential structures in Singh Estate. Following a representation by the Lokhandwala Residents Association (LRA), the first batch of 47 residential units was allotted to PAPs in Bitcon Infrastructure’s project at Poisar village, Kandivali (East), after a lottery held on June 19.
