Mumbai: The city woke up to a foggy sky this morning.

Maharashtra: Saturday morning in Mumbai began fresh and slightly cool, offering residents a welcome respite from the usual humidity. Clear skies, gentle breezes, and lower temperatures made for a pleasant start to the day, encouraging many to venture outdoors early. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature was expected to hover around 18°C, while the maximum could reach 33°C, making it one of the most comfortable winter days of the season.

However, this seemingly pleasant weather masked a persistent environmental concern. A light haze hung over several parts of the city, indicating a continued decline in air quality. Data from the air quality monitoring platform AQI.in showed that Mumbai’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) on Saturday morning was 246, placing it in the ‘unhealthy’ category. Such levels pose health risks, particularly for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory illnesses.
