Mumbai: Husband arrested as main conspirator in wife’s murder in Ulwe

Maharashtra : Investigation into the murder of 27-year-old chemist Alveena Adamali Khan in Ulwe has revealed that the complainant in the case—her husband Kishorsinh Khangarsingh Rajput—is himself the prime accused. The police have arrested her and two women who allegedly arranged the murder after accepting a contract, while two hired killers are still absconding. The murder, which took place late Sunday night, has shocked the Ulwe area. Alveena, who ran a medical store with her husband in Sector 5, was returning home from her relative’s house in Mumbai when she was attacked just 50 metres from her house. An unidentified man slit her throat with a sharp weapon and fled, leaving her dead on the spot. The Ulwe police had initially registered a case against an unknown assailant. However, a parallel investigation by Crime Branch Unit-2 quickly brought the focus to her husband. During the investigation, the police found Rajput’s unusual calling activity. A police officer involved in the investigation said, “When she was returning home, he had called his wife at least nine times to confirm her location. Also, calls were made to some unknown numbers, which were switched off after the murder and hence our suspicion against Rajput grew.” During interrogation, Rajput initially denied involvement but later confessed to hiring contract killers through middlemen to murder his wife.
