Mumbai: Case filed against autorickshaw driver for sexually abusing boy
Thane: Police in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai are searching for an autorickshaw driver who allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy while he was returning home, an official said on Saturday. The incident took place on July 23, he said. The victim, a class 9 student living in Mumbai’s Mulund, had gone to Kalwa to attend his swimming classes.
While returning home alone in the autorickshaw around 9:45 pm, its driver stopped the vehicle near Vitawa petrol pump and sexually assaulted him, Rabale police station sub-inspector Rajendra Chitte said. The boy was shocked by his act and later informed his parents about it. Following this, they all approached the police and lodged a complaint against the driver, he said. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and efforts are on to nab the driver, the official said.
