Mumbai breaks air traffic record of 2018
Mumbai airport, which handles all flights in a single runway, broke its air traffic record in a single day during the Diwali weekend on November 11, when it handled 1,032 flights in 24 hours. The previous record of 1,004 arrivals and departures was set on 9 December 2018.

On 5 June 2018, for the first time, flight movement from Mumbai airport crossed the 1,000 mark in a single day.
But air traffic subsequently declined: Mumbai-based Jet Airways suspended its operations in April 2019 and in 2020 due to the Covid lockdown.
November profits
For the first time since 2018, air traffic at Bombay airport crossed four digits. Passenger traffic also reached a record in November.

India’s most frequented national route, Mumbai-Delhi, carried 18,580 passengers per day in November.
In total, 557,393 passengers flew during these months.
On Saturday 25 November 1,7L passengers were served, the largest passenger traffic in a single day ever recorded at the airport (approximate figure).
Administered 5L during the Diwali weekend from 11 to 13 November.
main destination
Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai retained their positions as the main national destinations outside Mumbai airport.
Dubai, London and Abu Dhabi remained the preferred international destinations.
