Mumbai: A child who was unconscious for 20 days got a new life in C.L. Walavalkar

Maharashtra: Nine-month-old Chinmay Jadhav, a resident of Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai, was brought to Durgawadi by his parents for the Ganpati festival. But, on 7 September 2024, the child was bitten on the neck by a very poisonous snake called Manyar. Due to which the child became completely unconscious. Breathing also stopped and the strength of the organs was completely lost. The child was immediately brought to C.L. Walavalkar Hospital. In such an unconscious state, the pediatric medical officers of Walavalkar Hospital started treatment immediately. A ventilator was installed for artificial respiration. Treatment started under the guidance of Dr. Shivaji Patil under the special guidance of Dr. Mahesh Mohite of Panvel and Dr. Anil Kurane of Walavalkar Hospital.

It had been several days since the child was born. There was no movement in the body. The sign of liveliness is that the pupil of the eye was not moving. The condition of the child was becoming critical for several days. A total of 30 vials of Bharat Serum’s anti-snake venom were given. Still there was no improvement. Eventually, even the doctors gave up hope. But on the tenth day, the child opened his eyes and said ‘Dev tari aaya ko maari’. Slowly, the effect of the treatment started showing, the hands started moving and he started recognizing his mother. The child was on the brink of death for about one and a quarter months. But the pediatricians took full responsibility to ensure that the child did not get any infection or back injury while on the ventilator. Under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Yojana, the entire expenses of the child were completely free. His parents have thanked the hospital a lot.
