Mulugu: Minor sexually assaulted, Sarpanch’s husband Ambala Srikant arrested

Warangal: Police in Mulugu district have registered a case and arrested the husband of a village sarpanch (village head) for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in Kannaigudem mandal. The accused, identified as 28-year-old Ambala Srikanth, was taken into custody on Thursday after the victim’s family filed a police complaint. According to the complaint, the victim’s family had initially approached Srikanth, asking him to provide counseling to the intermediate student to help her overcome some personal fears. However, taking advantage of the situation, the accused went to the minor’s house and allegedly sexually assaulted her. The girl resisted and immediately informed her family about the incident, following which her mother contacted the police. Sub-Inspector E. Venkatesh said that a case has been registered against Srikanth under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The accused has been arrested and is being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. Police said strict action will be taken in the case and assured the victim’s family that necessary steps are being taken for their safety and legal help.
