Mukesh Ambani commits to double Reliance investment in Bengal by 2030

Kolkata Kolkata: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday committed that his group will double its investment in West Bengal by the end of the decade, i.e. by 2030.

Speaking at the Bengal Global Business Summit 2025, which has the tagline ‘Bengal means business’, Ambani said when he first attended the summit in 2016, Reliance’s investment was less than Rs 2,000 crore. He said his group’s investment in Bengal has grown 20 times in less than a decade since 2016, and “we have invested over Rs 50,000 crore.”

Reliance’s commitment to Bengal’s all-round development is unwavering, and “we will double this investment by the end of this decade,” Ambani pledged on stage with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today.

More importantly, he said the investments made so far have created over one lakh direct jobs and fuelled significant economic growth in West Bengal. Furthermore, he said Jio is also building Bengal’s first cable landing station at Digha to enable fibre connectivity in the state. Mukesh Ambani asserted that it will be commissioned early next year and will become the gateway to Bengal’s digital leadership in eastern India.

Stating that data centres are at the heart of AI infrastructure and Jio is currently building the world’s best AI infrastructure in India, Mukesh Ambani today announced that he has converted his data centre in Kolkata into a state-of-the-art AI-ready data centre, and it will be ready in the next 9 months.

In addition, Reliance plans to expand its retail business network to 1,700 stores in the next three years, operating 2.2 million square feet of warehouse space in the state. Currently, they operate a network of over 1,300 stores in West Bengal, spread across an area of ​​over 8 million square feet. In addition, he said that Reliance’s new energy initiative will begin its operations in late 2025.
