MRPL’s Q4 profit drops 68%

Mangaluru Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a subsidiary of ONGC, has announced its financial results for the fourth quarter and full financial year 2024-25. In the fourth quarter (Q4 FY 2024-25), MRPL reported a revenue of Rs 27,601 crore, slightly lower than Rs 29,190 crore in the same quarter last year. The company’s profit before tax (PBT) stood at Rs 584 crore, down from Rs 1,766 crore in the year-ago quarter. Similarly, profit after tax (PAT) declined by 68% to Rs 363 crore as against Rs 1,137 crore last year.

The company’s gross refining margin (GRM) for the fourth quarter stood at $6.23 per barrel, down from $11.35 per barrel in the same quarter last year. Although profit has declined, MRPL performed well on the operational front. The company achieved its highest ever crude throughput of 18.044 million metric tonnes (MMT) in 2024-25, higher than the previous record of 17.116 MMT. Distillate yield, ATF production and reformate and benzene production have also improved.

MRPL’s total revenue for the full financial year 2024-25 stood at Rs 1,09,277 crore as against Rs 1,05,223 crore in 2023-24, but PAT declined sharply to Rs 51 crore, down from Rs 3,596 crore in the previous year.
