Mpox: Mpox is spreading rapidly, WHO is worried, what are the symptoms and how to prevent it

New Delhi: We were not yet over the fear of Corona that Mpox has started scaring the world. WHO has also issued a warning. It has also knocked in Pakistan, close to India. The virus has caused the most havoc in DRC and Africa. A patient has also been found in Sweden, while 10 patients have been detected in South Korea till August 9 this year. The speed at which it is spreading has scared people. Various questions have started flashing in the mind. What are the symptoms and what precautions can be taken? In this regard, the news agency spoke to Dr Narendra Singhla, Lead Consultant, Internal Medicine Department, CK Birla Hospital (R), Delhi.

Dr Narendra Singhla says Mpox i.e. monkeypox is a rare and infectious disease, which is caused by a virus. Its symptoms include fever, headache, muscle pain, and skin rashes or pimples. According to WHO, this virus also spreads through skin or sexual contact or respiratory droplets. This outbreak has mainly affected men who have sex with men.

According to the doctor, some precautions can prevent this. First of all, avoid coming in contact with an infected person. Take care of hygiene. Wash hands frequently with soap and water. Wear a mask and maintain physical distance. Clean the materials used by the infected person carefully and if symptoms appear, contact a doctor immediately. According to Dr. Singhla, its treatment is possible. Antiviral drugs are given as treatment. It is important that we remain aware of this disease and take precautions, so that it can be prevented from spreading.

WHO has currently approved two vaccines for ampox. These have been recommended by the organisation’s Strategic Advisory Group of Immunisation Experts, and have been approved by national regulatory authorities listed by the World Health Organisation, as well as by individual countries, including Nigeria and the DRC.
