MP: Bihar’s city is an important link in constable recruitment scam

Madhya Pradesh : Paliganj, a small town located about 50 km from Patna, has emerged as the main supplier of ‘solvers’ in the Madhya Pradesh police constable recruitment scam. These solvers copied candidates in the 2023 written exam and were paid ₹1 to ₹4 lakh for each successful candidate.

The solvers, mostly local residents of Paliganj, were sent from Patna to cities in Madhya Pradesh, stayed in luxury hotels and were driven around in expensive cars. The most successful of them, Ranjan Kumar Gupta, a school teacher, appeared in the exam in place of 10 candidates, one of whom scored 87 out of 100 and was in the merit.

Another solver, Amarendra Singh, copied eight candidates and charged ₹1 lakh for each exam – provided the candidate cleared the written exam. Singh was arrested in Alirajpur district after the police nabbed Ramroop Gurjar, a candidate from the Gwalior-Chambal region, who had cleared the 2023 written exam with Singh’s help and later also cleared the 2024 physical exam on his own.
