MP and DM arrived to visit flood affected areas, boat capsized

Birbhum: The boat of TMC MP and District Magistrate who arrived to visit flood affected areas in Birbhum district of West Bengal capsized. Officials and leaders had arrived by ignoring the rules. None of the people in the boat were wearing life jackets. Due to this the situation became more serious. Local people reached the accident site and started rescuing the victims. Everyone was evacuated safely.

TMC MLA of Labpur Abhijit Singh, Bolpur MP Asit Mal and Rajya Sabha MP Samirul Islam, Birbhum District Magistrate Bidhan Roy and his security guards were present in the boat. After getting instructions from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, all the people had come to visit the flood affected areas. Meanwhile this accident happened

Many districts of West Bengal are still affected by floods. Many people’s houses were submerged, while crops have also been damaged. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also arrived to visit the flood affected areas on Wednesday, during which she had to face opposition from the local people. Many people expressed their anger in front of the Chief Minister. The angry people had told the Chief Minister that on one hand we are affected by the floods. Our property, lifelong earnings have been destroyed, but on the other hand we are not being given any kind of help by the administration. The attitude of the administration is completely indifferent towards us.

After this, the CM directed the administration to provide all possible help to the flood-affected people. Flood-like conditions have arisen in many districts of West Bengal due to the release of about 2.5 lakh cusecs of water by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) on Wednesday. This is said to be the second major flood in West Bengal after 2009.
