Mother’s Day 2026: A celebration of love and memories in the city
Ludhiana: On Sunday, Mother’s Day, the city is filled with the spirit of remembering mothers’ love and their incredible contributions. Bakeries, florists, and shopkeepers are making special preparations for this special day, thanking mothers for their immense love and dedication. Bakeries across the city have prepared themed cakes, including rich chocolate drizzles, pastel frosting, and heart-shaped sweets. Special Mother’s Day cakes are gleaming on the counters, and customers are eager to please their mothers. Meanwhile, florists are busy crafting bouquets, symbolizing their gratitude and love.
Sakshi Garg shared her experience, “Every day is Mother’s Day, but it’s so special to receive special pampering on this day. My children shower me with cakes, flowers, and gifts, and it’s a truly special experience.” This year, Mother’s Day celebrations aren’t limited to the city. Jyoti Gill, who lives in Canada, shared the tradition of sending flowers to her mother. She said, “My mother is a single mother, and she paid the price for her dreams with her own sacrifice. I send her favorite sunflowers, and soon she’ll be joining me in Canada.” For some, this year is even more personal. For Anisa, this is her first Mother’s Day.
She said, “Becoming a mother has changed me. Now I understand the true meaning of love. My mother used to say that it can only be understood after becoming a mother yourself.” Still, some corners are quiet amidst the celebrations. Many mothers in nursing homes are waiting for visitors who rarely visit. One elderly woman said, “It’s just a marketing ploy. Mother’s Day isn’t about posting on social media and sending gifts. Take care of your mothers the way they took care of you when you were a child. They need you.” The city’s citizens have invested in bakeries, flowers, and other gifts to make the day special. This day is not only about giving gifts but also about realizing mother’s contribution, her hard work and her love.
