Morning classes in Odisha to begin from April 2, check details

Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi set a target of ‘zero casualty’ during the summer season in the State, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari today informed that morning classes in all school across the State will begin from April 2.
According to Pujari, the State government decided to conduct the morning classes in view of the scorching heatwave conditions as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
However, the exact time for the morning classes has not been fixed yet. The concerned department will soon have a meeting to discussion about the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the morning classes and their timings as directed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Maji.
Earlier yesterday, while reviewing preparedness to tackle heatwave conditions in the State, Majhi had directed the concerned departments and officials to issue a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the morning classes of all schools in the state.
According to the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, the Anganwadi Centres, which used to remain opened for the students from 9 AM to 2 AM, will now function between 9 AM and 2 PM to avoid peak heat. If the temperature rises further, the district collectors can review the weather conditions of their respective districts and close the Anganwadi Centres during the summer season and dry ration can be given to the students at their homes, he added.
The Minister further said that all sorts of works will be stopped between 11 AM and 3 PM and we have directed the police officials to take strict action against the employers who ask the labourers to work during this period of time.
Pujari also said that there will not be unscheduled power cuts and outages. Besides, power supplies will not interrupted from 9 AM to 3 PM and throughout the night. He also clarified that there will be scheduled power cuts but not for a long period of time.
