Mohanty criticized BJD government regarding urban disorder
Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Sameer Mohanty on Wednesday attacked the ruling BJD over the urban filth created in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
“Despite huge funding from the Centre, the Odisha government has no concrete plan on managing the problems of waste and waterlogging in major cities of the state. Mohanty told media persons here that with increasing urbanization and increase in population in urban centres, the existing infrastructure has proved to be very inadequate. The BJD government had identified 20 slums as Biju Adarsh Colonies, but even three years after the launch of the programme, the beneficiaries have not received its benefits. The state capital has become a garbage city with a huge pile of solid waste at its centre.
“We will remove the mountain of waste by making it mandatory to use up to 8 per cent plastic waste for road construction under the ‘Rags to Road’ scheme. “We will guarantee a decent standard of living for slum dwellers by implementing the slum rehabilitation policy after coming to power.”
