Mohali: 2 members of target killing module arrested
Mohali: Police arrested two members of the Target Killing Module and recovered a pistol and 90 live rounds from them. On July 28, CIA staff was present near Banswali Chungi, Kharar, where police apprehended Mohit Kumar of Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala and Maninder Singh, a resident of Jalandhar. Both were living in a rented house in LIC Colony, Mundi Kharar, where their associates used to visit them. Police said that Mohit and his associates are already booked in several cases of rioting etc. and they also had unlicensed weapons.
A case has been registered under Arms Act at City Kharar police station. Addressing a press conference, Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg and SP (Investigation) Jyoti Yadav said, ‘Mohit had purchased 90 rounds and a 9 mm pistol from Maninder Singh, which he hid at a secluded place on Landran-Sirhind Road. Maninder was arrested on August 1. Maninder revealed that he got the ammunition from Harjeet Pandal, a resident of Jalandhar, who already has cases registered against him under Arms Act and extortion. He is currently in England. Harjeet is also an accomplice of Gopi, who is wanted in the Ratandeep Singh murder case. DSP (Investigation) Harsimrat Singh said, “The gang was planning targeted killings in Jalandhar and Kapurthala area on the instructions of Harjeet.”
