Minister Honors Delhi Metro Enthusiast for 24-Year Tradition

On Wednesday, Minister of State Tokhan Sahu felicitated Anil Marwah, an ardent admirer of the Delhi Metro. For the past 24 years, Marwah has been upholding a unique tradition: on the day of the inauguration of every new Delhi Metro corridor, he joins the ranks of the passengers traveling on the very first train of that corridor.
This felicitation ceremony was held in New Delhi in the presence of Vikas Kumar, the Managing Director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
Marwah has been adhering to this tradition since 2002, the year the Delhi Metro commenced its operations. Over these years, he has ensured that whenever a new corridor is opened to the general public, he is among the first passengers to travel on that corridor on that specific day.
Recalling his maiden journey, Marwah remarked that the Delhi Metro has brought about a transformative change in the realm of urban transportation within the country. It has significantly enhanced connectivity across the National Capital Region and reduced dependence on road-based commuting. He further added that the system’s punctuality, reliability, and convenience have played a pivotal role in making commuting easier for millions of passengers.
While congratulating Marwah, Sahu stated that such stories exemplify the deep emotional bond that citizens have forged with the Delhi Metro. He hailed the Metro as a revolutionary solution for urban mobility and a symbol of modern infrastructure development in India.
