Meghalaya Govt to take a week to appoint MSCW chairperson

The State government is yet to appoint the chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW). Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Wednesday said that it will take a matter of weeks for the government to take a final decision on the matter.

“There are couples of names but these require the approval of the chief minister. So we will share information with you as and when he has approved,” he said.

On January 24, Lyngdoh had informed that the government will take a call based on recommendation of the search committee as well as individual applications for appointment of the new chairperson of the MSCW.

Lyngdoh had said the department has already given a public advertisement on the matter and by the end of January the entire process will be closed.

He had also said that the government has decided to open the door to even individuals, who have not been named by the search committee, so that nobody would feel that they have been denied an opportunity to apply.
