Indore: During the Beggar Eradication Campaign, a beggar identified as Mangilal was found to have accumulated wealth worth crores of rupees by begging in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

The Indore Beggar Eradication Campaign was launched to help homeless or extremely poor people, who live on streets. However, the officials to their surprise discovered a crorepati beggar named Mangilal.

As per reports, Mangilal had been secretly earning crores of rupees only by sitting on an iron cart with ball-bearing wheels. He also owns three homes – a three-storey house in Bhagat Singh Nagar, a 1 BHK flat in Alwasa and a 600 sq ft apartment in Shiv Nagar. He also helps people in need by providing them loans.

Apart from the three houses, cars with driver, three-rented auto-rickshaw, Mangilal also received one BHK flat through the Red Cross Society under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on the grounds of his disability.

Mangilal is not a new face in and around Indore’s Sarafa Bazaar. Several people passing from that area have seen him moving in and around the area with a bagpack along with his hands inside shoes using them to push himself. He collects Rs 500-1000 daily and has come a long way from just a beggar to a crorepati beggar.

Mangilal’s Bank accounts and cash holdings is being verified following which he will be present infront of the district collector to investigate on what basis he was approved for the flat under PMAY scheme.

It is reportedly said by Rupali Jain, president of Pravesh NGO, that Mangilal hasn’t earned the whole money from begging he was a mason a few years ago, but after getting severely affected by leprosy he discontinued the work and started begging.
