MBBS-BDS applications begin before NEET results

Tamil Nadu: The online application process for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu began on Monday. The Medical Education Department invited applications to complete the admission process on time, even though the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) are yet to be announced. Officials say that candidates will have ample time to submit their applications even after the results are released.
The medical admission process has been delayed this year, primarily due to the circumstances surrounding the NEET exam. The NEET exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses was originally scheduled for May 3rd, but was canceled due to irregularities that surfaced during the exam. The re-examination was subsequently held on June 21st. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is now preparing to release the results in the next few days.
The delay in the NEET results has impacted the admission process for medical colleges across the country. Counseling programs are also running behind schedule in most states. In light of this situation, the Tamil Nadu government and the Medical Education Department have decided to begin the application process early to avoid unnecessary delays in the admission process after the results are released.
The Medical Education Students’ Union states that since the application process has begun before the NEET results are announced, students’ exam scores will be received directly from the National Testing Agency (NTA). This will eliminate the need for candidates to enter their scores separately during the application process, allowing for a more streamlined process.
According to sources within the Directorate of Medical Education, the deadline for submitting online applications will not expire even after the NEET results are declared. The department has clarified that applications will be available for at least a week after the results are released. This will also provide sufficient time for students who wish to complete the application process after the results are released.
Officials say that the application process and document verification will proceed concurrently to avoid any administrative delays when counseling begins. This will help complete the seat allocation and admission process within the stipulated time.
Every year, a large number of students apply for admission to government and private medical and dental colleges in Tamil Nadu. Admission to both MBBS and BDS courses is based solely on NEET scores. Therefore, all candidates are now eagerly awaiting the results released by the NTA.
The Medical Education Department has advised candidates to provide all the required documents and information correctly when applying. They should also regularly monitor all instructions and updates released on the department’s official website.
The department states that the purpose of starting the application process on time is to ensure that the counseling and seat allocation process can proceed without further delays as soon as the NEET results are released. This will facilitate timely admission for students and ensure the new academic session can commence as scheduled.
