Mayor Meenal Chaubey praised the work of the Green Army.
Raipur. The Maharajbandh pond cleaning campaign, conducted by the Green Army, completed its 27th day today. On this occasion, Mayor Meenal Choubey visited the Maharajbandh pond to inspect the campaign and praised the Green Army’s continuous efforts for public welfare. The Mayor also assured that the Municipal Corporation would provide the necessary resources to make the campaign a success.
Green Army founder and state president Amitabh Dubey, district president Gurdeep Tuteja, along with Bharti Srivastava, Vineet Sharma, Monika Bagrecha, Shyam Baghel, and Hemant Thakur, provided the Mayor with detailed information about the campaign. They explained that the organization has been conducting regular volunteer work every day at 8 AM since December 11th, and so far, 64 truckloads of waste have been removed from the pond. They clarified that this campaign is not limited to just cleaning, but is a continuous effort towards the conservation and rejuvenation of the pond, which will continue in the future.
During the cleaning campaign, remnants of religious processions, accumulated dirt on the ghats, single-use plastics, and other waste that had accumulated over the years have been removed from the pond. The ghats have been specially cleaned and restored to a usable condition. The dedication and discipline of the Green Army volunteers involved in the campaign are being widely appreciated. The print and electronic media have played a significant role in strengthening this public movement. The continuous support of the media has increased awareness among citizens regarding pond cleanliness and environmental protection.
Shashikant Yadu, the Program Director of the Maharajbandh pond cleaning campaign, expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers, citizens, and especially the media for supporting the campaign. He said that such campaigns are successful only with the participation of society, and awareness is the path to a permanent solution.
