Maruti Suzuki Jimny inducted into ITBP Fleet

Delhi Delhi. Maruti Suzuki has officially delivered 60 Jimny SUVs to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the first delivery of this model to the fleet of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). These off-road-capable vehicles will be deployed to support border patrol operations in the challenging terrains of Leh-Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. The handover ceremony took place at the ITBP headquarters in New Delhi, attended by senior officials including ITBP Additional Director General (Headquarters) Abdul Ghani Mir (IPS) and Maruti Suzuki’s Senior Executive Officer of Marketing and Sales Partho Banerjee.
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) operates in some of the toughest terrains in India, including the high-altitude Himalayan regions, where temperatures can drop to -45 degrees Celsius in winter. Patrolling snow-clad mountains, glaciers and rugged terrain requires robust and reliable vehicles. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny, known for its robust off-road performance, is well equipped to handle these extreme conditions. These newly inducted SUVs will assist ITBP personnel in border surveillance, troop movement and other operational duties in remote and challenging areas. Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. said, “Today is a proud moment for Maruti Suzuki as we hand over the Jimny to the ITBP. The Jimny is perfectly suited to navigate the challenging border terrain where the ITBP jawans work tirelessly to protect our country. Its tagline, ‘Never Turn Back’ resonates with the unwavering determination and courage of our brave soldiers.
Maruti Suzuki shares a deep association with the armed forces, providing them with vehicles they can rely on. The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy has been a trusted partner of the armed forces for decades, and with the Jimny, we continue this legacy to support our soldiers at the borders. With its globally recognised all-terrain capabilities, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny reaffirms our commitment to assist the heroes who protect our great nation.” Built for tough terrains, the Jimny 5-door is equipped with a ladder-frame chassis and ALLGRIP PRO (4×4) technology, ensuring robust off-road capabilities. Its boxy design enhances visibility, helping drivers navigate difficult terrains with confidence. Manufactured exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram plant in Haryana, the Jimny is exported to nearly 100 countries. In a recent milestone, Maruti Suzuki started shipping the Jimny 5-door to Japan, further strengthening India’s position as a major global manufacturing hub under the Make-in-India initiative.
